HEADING EAST: Italian label Henry Cotton’s is entering the Chinese market. The casualwear, high-end brand is part of Industries Sportswear Co. SpA, the sportswear company previously owned by Moncler SpA and now under the control of Emerisque Brands UK Ltd.
The Chinese branch of Henry Cotton’s, called Henry Cotton’s Greater China Company Limited, sold a 50 percent share to Chinese retailer China Outfitters Holding Limited, which will boost the penetration of the Italian fashion firm in the Chinese market starting with the fall 2015 season.
“We see enormous potential for Henry Cotton’s in Greater China,” said Henry Cotton’s general manager Enrico Acciai. “We will be proud to launch the brand with China Outfitters, a proven, professional and leading player in one of the most dynamic and fast-growing markets for casual sportswear in the world. They share a passion for our brand.”
China Outfitters and Henry Cotton’s, which is already sold in about 100 monobrand stores across Japan and Korea, plan to open more than 200 flagships in Greater China by 2020.
China Outfitters, which operates about 1,300 retail points in China, distributes a number of international brands, including Barbour, Jeep and Emerisque’s MCS, among others.
