Ermanno Scervino is set to debut the new off-field uniforms of Italy’s national soccer team today in Florence. The partnership between the fashion brand and the club was inked in November for the UEFA European Football Championship in France this year and will continue with the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Led by coach Antonio Conte and captain Gigi Buffon, the team will make its way from Piazza San Marco to the Galleria dell’Accademia, where the “Azzurri” will be shot by photographer Massimo Listri at 5:30 p.m. at the feet of Michelangelo’s marble statue David.
“The Italian national football team is one of the symbols of our country,” said Carlo Tavecchio, chairman of FIGC, the Italian Football Federation. “Immortalizing the team in front of Michelangelo’s David, wearing the new uniforms designed by Ermanno Scervino, brings together in just one photo many different facets of great Italian talent.”
The new made-to-measure uniform includes a navy blue slim-fit suit in stretch lightweight wool with a three-button jacket and pants without pleats, as well as a stretch poplin shirt in navy blue or white and a dark blue silk tie with a small triangle in the center. For spring and autumn the team is equipped with a three-button dark blue trenchcoat, which features the FIGC logo on the left sleeve, complete with black lace-up shoes and a black leather belt.
Paying tribute to Italy, the uniform also includes a dark blue parka in technical fabric with a sky blue inner vest and a hood in the colors of the Italian flag, as well as a dark blue sporty duffel bag and hold-all case for traveling. The parka and bag will be available worldwide in Ermanno Scervino stores from the end of May.
“We are proud and honored by this original collaboration of Made in Italy excellences,” said Toni Scervino, Ermanno Scervino chief executive officer. “Dressing the Azzurri in our made-to-measure outfits is a precious opportunity to display the tailoring skills of our maison to the world.”
Italy’s national soccer team is not the only athletic gig for the brand. Russia’s national team was sporting Ermanno Scervino uniforms at the Turin 2006 Olympic Winter Games, as well as the Azerbaijan national team at the London 2012 Olympic Games and Baku 2015 European Games.
