JANUARY JONES, RED-CARPET REBEL: Don’t expect January Jones to be trawling the ready-to-wear racks in preparation for the Emmys red carpet on Sept. 20. “I asked for mainly couture, just because not many couture designers want to lend for the Emmys, so I try to rebel and do something a little avant-garde,” the “Mad Men” star noted at Wednesday night’s Zimmermann Melrose Place fete. “I feel like the Emmys were so boring when [“Mad Men”] first got nominated. I went the other way. I find that may be risky, but it’s more fun. I love going outside of the box and wearing what’s not expected. Even if some people don’t agree with it.” Jones said she dresses for herself, not fashion critics. “Whatever I end up choosing is going to make me feel beautiful on that night. I get really into the dress and the hair and makeup and the whole creating a character aspect of it. It also gets me through all my red-carpet jitters when I don’t feel like myself.”

Of course, she is still mindful of what her costars will wear. “I was texting with Christina [Hendricks], asking if she’d found a dress yet. We always try to coordinate so we don’t wear the same color.”
