TINY DANCER: Swiss watchmaker Jaquet Droz has unveiled two limited-edition watches in collaboration with the Béjart Ballet Lausanne and watercolorist Stéphanie Barba.
Inspired by Barba’s brushstrokes of dancers executing Maurice Béjart’s choreography, the brand’s artisans hand painted the enamel dials of two versions of the Petite Heure Minute watch. The dancer images are also engraved in the backs of the watches.
One 39 mm version comes in diamond-encrusted white gold with a blue alligator strap and another 43 mm version comes in red gold with a brown alligator strap. They cost $41,500 and $34,300 respectively.
There are 28 pieces of each watch and they are sold at select retailers including The Swatch Group’s Tourbillon boutiques. Jaquet Droz, a Swatch property, presented the watches in Tokyo last week in tandem with a special performance of Béjart’s “IX Symphonie” in collaboration with the Tokyo Ballet.
