PAPER PLANE: As many Parisians prepared to take off for their summer holidays, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac took up residence at the French capital’s Orly airport to immortalize their memories with a series of live-drawing performances.
The French designer drew a large-scale fresco at the Orly Sud terminal’s arrivals area on Tuesday following a similar performance at Orly Ouest on Monday.
The personal appearances were designed to draw attention to a campaign launched by airport operator Aéroports de Paris calling on passengers to share their travel memories on social media using the hashtag #welcomestories and on a dedicated Web site, www.welcomestories.adp.fr, set to launch on Aug. 17.
De Castelbajac will immortalize the most compelling stories, and the resulting text and images will be displayed on the facade of the airport in October.
