Los Angeles-based jeweler Jennifer Meyer has linked with Barneys New York to design a 12-piece fall ready-to-wear capsule collection, “Barneys New York XO Jennifer Meyer,” to mark her 10-year anniversary. The New York-based retailer was the first to pick up Meyer’s jewelry collection, which is now is available in over 40 stores worldwide.
“I wanted to find a unique way to celebrate Jennifer’s 10-year anniversary with Barneys, and I’ve always taken notice to how stylish Jennifer was. Over a very early breakfast meeting it really hit me how incredibly chic she looked, while still maintaining her signature laid-back vibe,” says Barneys chief operating officer, Daniella Vitale.
The vibe of the collection, available mid-November, is California girl meets chic Parisian and focuses on Jen’s staple items such as a classic jean jacket, go-to cardigan, or perfect sundress. The collection ranges from a $150 cotton T-shirt up to a $1,025 pink wool coat.
“Barneys first approached me about designing a clothing collection eight months ago and I think I said ‘Yes’ before they even finished asking me,” said Meyer. “Designing a clothing collection was a completely different experience for me. I started with my favorite things and mood boards. What are my go-to items? What feeling do I get when I wear them? I wanted to design clothes that I can live in. I learned to design clothing exactly how I learned to design jewelry: I just jumped in feet first.” Meyer is also designing anniversary jewelry pieces, including a larger take on her signature leaf.
