IT’S AN HONOR: The American Folk Art Museum will honor Jerry Lauren on Oct. 15 at its annual gala. Aside from being a supporter of the museum, Lauren has loaned works by Bill Traylor from his collection for various exhibitions. At the Gotham Hall event, 350 guests will help pay tribute to Lauren, a self-taught artist and executive vice president and creative director of men’s design for Ralph Lauren Corp.
Christie’s deputy chairman John Hays and the museum’s board chair and art philanthropist Laura Parsons will also be honored, as will the Leir Charitable Foundations. The latter’s president, Arthur Hoffman, will accept the award. In keeping with the gala’s “American Originals: Folk Art and Jazz” billing, the Grammy-nominated JC Hopkins Biggish Band will perform.
