CHIMING IN: Jennifer Lopez is the latest big-name performer to join The Sound of Change Live, a concert slated for June 1 at London’s Twickenham Stadium and hosted by the Chime for Change campaign, which Gucci launched in February. The organization works to better the lives of women and girls worldwide by improving their access to education, health services and justice.
Lopez is to take the stage alongside Beyoncé Knowles, Chime for Change committee co-founder and concert artistic director, as well as musical acts including Florence & the Machine, Timbaland, John Legend, Laura Pausini, Ellie Goulding, HAIM, Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora. Presenters at the four-hour show are to include Blake Lively, James Franco and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
“I’m really happy that so many amazing artists have come together to support Chime for Change,” said Knowles. “Our goal is to have a great time while we unite and strengthen the voices of girls and women around the world.”
Gucci creative director Frida Giannini founded Chime for Change with Knowles and Salma Hayek. Gucci is underwriting the event, and ticket buyers will be able to select which Chime for Change project their purchase supports. Altogether, ticket sales will support at least 120 projects in more than 70 countries, and people can also make donations online.
