Josh Wood Productions is the latest creative company to expand to Los Angeles from New York. Now known as JWP, the company has been producing events such as the AmFAR Inspiration Gala since its inception six years ago. Chris Keslar is director of events in L.A.
“A lot of brands and organizations are focused on L.A., and it got to the point where were flying back and forth so much that we decided last year to look for a space here,” said Wood.
The company not only does event production but also overall concept and the increasingly important celebrity wrangling of performers, honorees and guests. Wood hints that the next Inspiration Gala in New York will honor a men’s designer who is also a major force in women’s fashion. Mimi Eayrs has also been appointed vice president of global events, based in New York.
“With so many fashion brands investing money in L.A., there’s still so much opportunity out here,” he said. Next up on his roster is a Girls Rock Camp Foundation event with honorary committee Katy Perry, Yoko Ono, Marianne Faithfull, Beth Ditto as well as parties for Spotify, Equinox, W Hotels and Brookfield Properties.
