JUICY JUICE: Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor made a personal appearance at Bloomingdale’s Century City in Los Angeles on Saturday in support of their latest line, Pam & Gela, a capsule collection launched last season.

“We feel like this is that casual luxury that was Juicy Couture,” Nash-Taylor explained. “We were trying to buy Juicy back for about a year and we didn’t get it, but in the process we designed this [for] the modern-day Juicy girl.” After selling Juicy Couture to Liz Claiborne Inc. in 2003, the duo launched high-end line Skaist-Taylor in 2011, which they described as a representation of their signature “crazy, eccentric, eclectic, boho-glam” styles. Although the newest label is under the same umbrella, “it is not the same thing as Skaist-Taylor,” Nash-Taylor said, noting Pam & Gela’s lower price point ($125 to $700 retail) and everyday appeal. “It’s more casual and it sits in contemporary,” Nash-Taylor said, adding, “Everybody liked it better because they could say it so much easier than Skaist-Taylor.”

Eventually, they hope both labels will sit under the same roof. “When we open stores we’re going to have Skaist-Taylor and Pam & Gela,” Skaist-Levy said. “They live together, like Prada and Miu Miu.”

In addition to Pam & Gela, which launches Thursday at Bloomingdale’s New York flagship on 59th Street, the pair’s first book, “The Glitter Plan: How We Started Juicy Couture for $200 and Turned it into a Global Brand,” is set to be released May 29. “We thought the book was sort of like a gift to any entrepreneur who’s dreamed about starting something,” Nash-Taylor said. “If we could do it, anybody could do it.”
