ISN’T IT ROMANTIC?: Karl Lagerfeld is to design costumes for “Brahms-Schönberg Quartet” at Opéra Bastille this summer, WWD has learned. Benjamin Millepied, who is stepping down as the Opera’s director of dance, enlisted Lagerfeld for the George Balanchine dance piece, slated for performances from July 2 to 15.
“This is a more romantic Balanchine. I’ll make it very Vienna Secession,” Lagerfeld told WWD. “That’s the mood of the music.”
The multitasking designer also recently wrapped the campaign for Chanel’s latest Métiers d’Art collection, dubbed Paris-Rome, which features actress Kristen Stewart.
Lagerfeld rented a huge apartment near the Opera Garnier and decorated it with his own collection of Art Deco furniture by Louis Süe and André Mare, heightening the Parisian atmosphere.
