WE ARE THE ROBOTS: They have more followers on Instagram than the population of Italy. No wonder it’s a big deal for Karl Lagerfeld that photos of Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Hailey Baldwin toting leather goods with his robot likeness are starting to ricochet around the Internet.

In fact, Hadid was spotted carrying a zippered pouch from the Karl Robot line as she exited the Chanel couture show in Paris recently. Hers also depicts a mechanical version of Lagerfeld’s pet cat, Choupette, a bolt of electricity zapping between her ears.

The range of tote bags, pouches and minaudières arrived in Lagerfeld shops and its online store earlier this month.

Accessories are the main engine for the Karl Lagerfeld brand, relaunched in early 2012 in the burgeoning masstige category and now sold online in 97 countries thanks to a partnership with Italy’s Yoox Net-a-porter Group.

The firm is no slouch on social media either, having amassed some 2.1 million followers on Instagram in the last two years.
