The 23-year-old singer first wore the silk muslin dress Friday night in Las Vegas, where the 110-gig tour launched its eight-month run.
Gomez said she was “completely blown away” by the ensemble, which took more than 200 hours to make at the Paris atelier of Lagerfeld’s namesake brand. The dress — accessorized with black vinyl leggings and blue fingerless gloves — is embroidered with 12,000 pearls, seed beads and sequins for a glistening effect in silver and black, according to the fashion house. She wears it during six numbers of the show, including to belt out her hit “Hands to Myself.” Christian Classen, her stylist and fashion director, selected the balance of her costumes.
“I love her music, it’s very strong,” said Lagerfeld, just back from Havana, where he unveiled the Coco Cuba cruise collection he designed for Chanel, noting he was “both happy and proud” to dress Gomez.
