BACK TO SCHOOL: The New School’s Parsons School of Design and Kering are teaming up once again for the fourth annual “Empowering Imagination” fashion design competition. Beginning today, twelve members of the 2015 graduating class from Parsons School of Design’s fashion design program, selected based on their theses collections, will be featured on the homepage of Style.com. Through May 18, Style.com will publish the full thesis collection from one designer every day, culminating in the meeting of a panel of fashion veterans, including Alexander Wang, model Aimee Mullins, Giovanna Battaglia, Simon Collins, Saks Fifth Avenue’s Colleen Sherin, Kering’s Laurent Claquin, and Style.com’s Nicole Phelps, who together will choose two winners. Designs from both winning designers will be featured in the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue between May 29 and June 10. Additionally, the winners will tour Kering’s Materials Innovation Lab in Italy which houses over 1,500 sustainable fabric options.

“Empowering young talent is a core part of Kering’s DNA,” said Claquin. “Through this long-standing partnership with Parsons School of Design, we support the next generation of fashion designers by providing resources and a framework within which they can thrive.” Winners of the competition will be announced on Style.com on May 19.
