SEE ME NOW: A-list Hollywood actors walked the runway for Prada’s men’s show last month, from Jeff Goldblum to Kyle MacLachlan, but for the brand’s women’s show, the celebrity quota was back on the front row.
Kim Kardashian West — in dark glasses and inaccessible, cordoned off by tight security — sat next to Rita Ora. Storm Reid, Mackenzie Davis, Shira Haas, Julia Marino, Gus Kenworthy, Matilda Lutz, Emma Mackey, Mahmood, Taylor Russell and Katherine Waterston who also took in the show.
Kardashian West has long been a style star to watch, regularly wearing statement-making pieces from design houses like Mugler, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Balmain, Versace and many others.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that she would star in Balenciaga’s new advertising campaign.
Dropping in several installments throughout the season, the images by photographer Stef Mitchell show friends of the brand that include Justin Bieber and Isabelle Huppert, as well as models Tommy Blue and Marie-Agnès Diene. Each is shown in a familiar home or work environment.
For the second installment, West is portrayed in her Calabasas home, taking a selfie alongside a fluorescent Le Cagole handbag with a customized tag featuring the initials “KKW” while wearing a black catsuit and shoes reminiscent of her all-black Balenciaga outfit at the Met Gala in September — minus the face covering. In another Balenciaga moment to remember, in October, she wore a pink bodysuit from the brand while hosting “Saturday Night Live.”
In 2019, Kardashian West set out on her next entrepreneurial venture with the launch of shapewear brand Skims. Skims recently embarked on its first major collaboration with Fendi on a line of loungewear and innerwear. She partnered with Kim Jones, artistic director of men’s at Dior and artistic director at luxury fashion house Fendi, for a capsule collection for the latter, which Skims said generated more than $3 million in sales within the first 10 minutes of launch. Kardashian West revealed last month that Skims had raised $240 million in a series B funding round, led by Lone Pine Capital, bringing the brand’s valuation to $3.2 billion.
Kardashian West is the fourth recipient of the Fashion Icon award at the People’s Choice Awards, following the likes of Tracee Ellis Ross, Gwen Stefani and Victoria Beckham.
