Kimora Lee Simmons is expanding her KLS tribe in more ways than one. On the business end, Simmons has hired Jacqui Wenzel as president of KLS Kimora Lee Simmons, the high-end line she launched for fall. Wenzel worked to launch Ports 1961 in New York before and has more recently run her own consulting group working with emerging brands such as Misha Nonoo and Ji Oh.
“Kimora herself played in a big role in convincing me [to take the job],” Wenzel said. “She was very inspiring. I’d never met her before I came into the meeting, and I was completely taken up by all her plans.” Wenzel will be overseeing wholesale, which the company has yet to launch, and retail which is in the short-term. The first KLS store is set to open on Beverly Drive in Los Angeles in about four weeks if all goes according to plan. Simmons also formally ended her relationship as creative director of JustFab. “It was a good time to move on,” said Simmons of JustFab, which she joined in 2012. “I want to give my full attention to my new projects.”
Lastly, she gave birth to her fourth child three weeks ago, a boy named Wolfe Lee Leissner, with her husband Tim Leissner.
