PARTY TIME: Kobi Halperin is getting into the holiday spirit.
Come November, the New York-based, Israel-born designer will unveil a 13-piece holiday dress collection exclusive to Neiman Marcus. The lineup features cocktail and evening styles in textured lace and double-faced silk satin featuring decadent embroideries, metal beads, sequins and raw-edged hems.
“I love the idea of dressing women for the special moments in their life, but I want them to feel comfortable, elegant and [like] themselves in the dresses,” Halperin said. “A lot of eveningwear I see in the market seems so serious and formal, and this is really where I saw the opportunity to fill an untapped niche.”
Halperin — a newly integrated CFDA member — said designing the holiday collection for Neiman’s felt like a natural progression. The dresses will sit on a different floor of the department store than his signature sportswear collection.
“Twenty years ago, I started off my career as a dress designer with a love of haute couture, so it’s nice to go back to the starting point and see everything come full circle,” Halperin said. “[The holiday capsule collection] allows me to attract another customer with different needs and expand my product offerings. I hope that as we continue to grow, I will be able to continue to expand to other categories I feel passionate about like accessories and shoes and really grow the brand to become the lifestyle brand I envisioned from the beginning.”
The collection, which ranges from $550 to $1,295, will hit 22 Neiman Marcus doors as well as neimanmarcus.com.
