BENNETT AND BIONDA: Two British footwear brands have formed a creative partnership — albeit a temporary one. L.K. Bennett has tapped luxury footwear label Bionda Castana to collaborate on a limited-edition spring collection that will launch globally on Feb. 10.
Bionda Castana’s founders and owners Natalia Barbieri and Jennifer Portman are the first designers to collaborate with the more accessibly priced L.K. Bennett. In the past, the British footwear brand has worked with model Laura Bailey and fashion and media consultant Caroline Issa.
The capsule collection includes six different styles, a selection of flats, sandals, pumps and block heels that unite the playful details Bionda Castana is known for with L.K. Bennett’s more classic designs. Bionda Castana’s brand signatures include lace-up sandals, modest heel heights and the use of mesh and French lace.
“Natalia and Jennifer have brought their coveted aesthetic, and together with our own in-house design team, created something unique for everyday luxury,” said Robert Bensoussan, L.K. Bennett’s chief executive officer.
Barbieri added: “We found that the Bionda Castana and L.K. Bennett women had a natural synergy, which made for an exciting collection.”
The shoes will be priced between 275 pounds and 350 pounds, or $475 and $595 at current exchange, and sold online and in L.K. Bennett flagship stores in the U.S., U.K., France, Spain and the Middle East. The online footwear store Sarenza will be the exclusive wholesale partner for the capsule collection.
Barbieri and Portman launched their label in 2007 after leaving their jobs in finance and marketing, respectively. Bionda Castana is stocked at Harrods, Opening Ceremony in New York and Level Shoe District in Dubai. The designers also opened their first boutique in London’s Belgravia earlier this year, where they offer custom-made services.
