LADIES NIGHT: “Some people may be shocked,” Karl Lagerfeld teased recently about his latest project: a 30-minute film that will be screened after presenting his cruise collection for Chanel in Cap d’Antibes Monday night. The trailer for the “The Tale of a Fairy” — posted Thursday on Chanel’s news site — features a topless Freja Beha Erichsen, who appears to be said fairy. The androgynous model also locks lips with actress and Chanel ambassador Anna Mouglalis. The film also stars Kristen McMenamy, Lady Amanda Harlech and model Mark Vanderloo.
PARTY ON: The week of the Met gala has always a bender of sorts for Stella McCartney, who tends to maximize her trips to the States with as many parties and store appearances as possible for a mother of four. So after dressing 19 women for Monday night’s Costume Institute party, she hosted her own party Wednesday night at Saks Fifth Avenue to celebrate the opening of her shop-in-shop on the second floor. “I haven’t even had time to stop and process the whole thing,” said McCartney, whose friend Liv Tyler, a guest of Riccardo Tisci’s on Monday, was on hand to model a dress from the spring collection, along with Jeff Koons and a capella group Nu Millenium.
‘TIS THE SEASON…: For the sample sale. And starting today, Comme des Garçons will be holding the mother of them all: a four-day sale the company is calling a “shopping festival,” complete with on-site food vendors. Held at New York’s Croatian Church on 504 West 41st Street, New York Market Market will feature merchandise from all of the company’s brands, including Junya Watanabe and — collector alert — the now-defunct Tao Comme des Garçons. “It is all new stock, never worn and not samples, and discontinued accessories,” noted Adrian Joffe, chief executive officer of Comme des Garçons International.
