Lady Gaga certainly is full of surprises. First, she didn’t walk the red carpet at the gala Thursday night at the Guggenheim for the launch of her fragrance Lady Gaga Fame, instead turning up in a convertible and sending the paparazzi (and crowd) into a frenzy.

She has more things up her sleeve for the personal appearance she will do promoting her scent at Macy’s Herald Square Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

While she wouldn’t reveal how she’ll arrive at the retailer — but promised it would be impressive — she told WWD Thursday that she’s planning an ice cream social at the store for her Little Monsters. “When they get there, there’s going to be a lovely black ice cream-inspired ice cream party for them.

I’m going to hang out with them and have sundaes, I’ll show them the perfume and talk to them.…This is really nice because I never get to see my fans, and I definitely miss the fans in the U.S. so much.” The first 250 fans who purchased a Gaga gift set will get to mingle with the star.

Make no mistake: Gaga’s fingers were in every part of the process, from the selecting of the fragrance notes to the advertising and bottle design. “I was surprised at how surprised [Coty, her fragrance licensee] was at how involved I was,” she said Thursday. “They were surprised by the attention to detail. I wanted samples of everything. I bathed, ate and know everything about this. They had a problem with the cap at one point, and I almost called the whole thing off. Because I don’t give a s–t about a perfume that is not good — especially with my name on it, for God’s sake! Take it off the shelf! I don’t need your money! I’m going to put all the money I’m going to make from this perfume into my show and the Born This Way Foundation and all the things I love to do.

“I don’t even have a house — I’m a gypsy,” she said with a shrug. “Like all I want to do is create things and wear funny clothes and go to parties and smoke my rich friends’ weed. That’s really all I want to do. I want to change the lives of my fans and the only way to do that is by being myself.”
