On Saturday during Milan Fashion Week, the eighth annual amfAR Milano benefit will honor designer Lapo Elkann with the organization’s Award of Courage. Elkann will be recognized for his philanthropic efforts benefiting the fight against AIDS during the black-tie gala at La Permanente, presented by jewelry house Harry Winston. Last year’s Award of Courage recipient was OTB president Renzo Rosso.
The worldwide amfAR galas are known to attract a legion of A-listers and have raised millions of dollars for AIDS research programs. This year’s Milan edition will be chaired by a mix of fashion designers and faces, including Alessandra Ambrosio, Dean Caten, Dan Caten, Peter Dundas, Silvia Venturini Fendi, Angela Missoni, Remo Ruffini and Donatella Versace. The night will include a dinner, auction and performance by British pop star Charli XCX.
AmfAR Milano will receive additional support from Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton and Delta Air Lines. This year’s event will also make a donation to Protezione Civile, in solidarity with the recent 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Central Italy.
