CURIOSITY SHOP: Globetrotting dandy journalist and consultant Thomas Erber has concocted a life-size curiosity cabinet to be displayed throughout Colette for the holidays, with smaller versions at two other Paris locations.
The selected objects will be on show at the Paris concept store from Nov. 23 to Dec. 24, with different selections featured in the store at the recently reopened nightclub Les Bains and the multiuse space Le Molière in the Palais-Royal area.
It marks a return to home turf for Erber, whose first exhibition of Le Cabinet de Curiosités was held at Colette in 2010, followed in subsequent years by Browns in London, Andreas Murkudis in Berlin, Maison Kitsuné in New York and Siwilai at Central Embassy in Bangkok.
Whilst the first pop-up store featured 27 items, the sixth edition will feature over 80 of them, including a Kova bracelet made in black gold set with black diamonds; Pierre Hardy loafers in crocodile, and an Oamn black merino shearling blouson. Newcomers to the Cabinet de Curiosités include Montblanc, Cire Trudon and Nicolas Ouchenir.
An inauguration will be held at Colette on Nov. 26, followed by an after party at Les Bains.
Erber has also crafted an itinerary of Parisian stores, galleries, unusual locations and restaurants. Every location will be given the “Cabinet de Curiosités de Thomas Erber” label, and there will be a guided tour service available throughout the month of December.
