COSTUME DRAMA: Ahead of the U.K. release of “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie” on July 1, a series of costumes curated by Rebecca Hale is on display in a 10-window installation at Liberty.
Mannequins resembling the film’s stars Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders are posed against a pink-purple sequin backdrop surrounded by — what else? — shoes and bottles of Champagne as well as a bold sign declaring: “Look Darling, we’re in the bloody windows.”
Meanwhile, a row of fashion show attendees are decked out in clothing from designers including Dries Van Noten and Valentino. One wears a bespoke Vivienne Westwood ensemble, while another is decked in a red Alexander McQueen dress.

On the shop floor, the retailer has dressed mannequins in costumes from the film. They’ve been merchandised with pieces from designers that Liberty carries, such as Mary Katrantzou. The costumes have been labeled with stickers reading: “Not for sale darlings.”
Liberty’s head of visual identity Liz Silvester told WWD the windows are “one of the funniest we have done all year. They chatter ‘More Champagne’ and are plastered with our giant Ab Fab bubble stickers, with some of the great phases from the film.”
The window installation will be up until July 17.
