LIM POPS UP IN HONG KONG: With a stand-alone store in Harbour City, Kowloon, not to mention a presence in Lane Crawford stores, and now a pop-up store in Wanchai, on Hong Kong Island, Phillip Lim has got all of Hong Kong covered.

The 3.1 Phillip Lim pop-up store launched last week on trendy Wing Fung Street, where cult magazine Monocle also has a shop, as well as Club Monaco. The store’s modern and spare design, with striking organic elements and a dynamic art gallery feel, is a collaboration between Lim and New York-based production and set designer Jonathan Beck. The 800-square-foot retail space — the brand’s first such pop-up presence in Asia — is spread out over two floors and will stay for 10 months.  Far from being a static space, the pop-up shop will reflect the energy and freshness of the brand, with displays and merchandise changing every month, reportedly shifting from the women’s collection to the men’s and back. For December, the store is stocking the holiday-resort and pre-spring women’s ready-to-wear collection, together with accessories.

There’s a social media aspect to the pop-up store, too. A Web site,, has been set up, and will feature the contributions of bloggers and local style icons such as Tina Leung of and Janice Lee of, who will style looks from the store.
