FASHION’S FRESHMEN: London College of Fashion’s MA students showcased their graduate collections with a show in the British capital Thursday night. Ten women’s wear degree candidates presented their creations at Royal College of Surgeons of England.
Among the standout collections, styled by Anders Sølvsten Thomsen, were ones by Alexandru Tunsu, Ning Xu, Pelin Isildak and Lauren Lake.
Tunsu created monochromatic black-and-white coats and slim trousers with his own fabric made by fraying and stitching a slew of materials including cottons, polyesters, chiffons and silks.
Isildak referenced historical uniforms from the 16th and 17th centuries, and worked furnishing textiles and tapestries into prints or laser-cut flowers onto jackets and coats. The runway was brightened with Xu’s oversize reversible nylon parkas which were paired with pants in bold blue hues.
Colorful too was Lake’s bold and tactile pink faux fur coat.
