LOOKING FOR AN UP-AND-COMER: The Accessories Council and Lividini & Co. want to find the next big name in accessories. They’ve launched the Emerging Designers Competition and will reveal the winner at the Council’s ACE Awards Dinner on Nov. 3., which also marks the organization’s 20th anniversary. Entry is limited to accessory designers who have been in business for fewer than three years who can provide a portfolio, which may include look books, product information, wholesale distribution and a business plan. Interviews will be held in New York in October. Five finalists will be picked before revealing the winner.
“Emerging designers are the lifeblood of our industry,” said Jaqui Lividini, of Lividini & Co. “New designers face so many challenges, not the least of which is how to identify and communicate their unique brand proposition. We will not only help them to discover their brand essence but also fine-tune their collection to present it to retailers.”
