The men’s store sits on South Coast Plaza’s lower level between Michael Kors and Charlotte Olympia. A sign outside the door Thursday evening noted a private event being held and then teased today’s opening.
It joins the house’s existing collection of women’s ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories, all of which reside on the second floor of the center’s Nordstrom wing, neighbors with Salvatore Ferragamo, St. John, Piaget and David Yurman.
Spokespeople for Louis Vuitton could not be immediately reached for comment.
Elsewhere at South Coast Plaza, Saint Laurent on Thursday quietly moved to larger digs, relocating from the third to the second floor, taking up space between Gucci and J. Crew in the store previously occupied by Sony.
The updated store design reflects the new store concept, conceived in 2012 under former creative director Hedi Slimane, playing off of reflective and marble surfaces. The new space at South Coast totals 5,500 square feet, about double what it had at its previous location at the center.
The latest updates at South Coast follow other recent openings for the center. Hennes & Mauritz AB in the fall opened the first Cos store in Orange County at South Coast. That was followed by Inditex Group’s opening of the first West Coast store for Massimo Dutti in nearly 9,000 square feet of space with an offering of men’s, women’s and accessories. Kate Spade earlier this year opened a 4,336-square-foot store, which it said is its largest specialty store domestically, carrying an assortment of women’s, children’s and home.
