LOUISE GRAY’S DESIGNS ON BRORA: Brora, the Scottish cashmere label, has harnessed designer Louise Gray’s talents and tapped her to create a limited edition capsule collection for fall. Gray, a Scotland-born, London-based designer, is known for her color-drenched collections that she works in a riot of prints and textures. For Brora, she has done an 11-piece line of knits, which range from a striped cashmere sweater dress in shades of gray, red, yellow and green through to cute striped wrist-warmers, beanies and snoods. During a cocktail to launch the collection at Brora’s store on London’s Sloane Square Thursday night, Gray said she drew on the 18-year-old label’s archives for inspiration, with one cardigan inspired by a fisherman’s sweater. “I knew the brand — my grandma buys pieces and my mum buys pieces — but it was amazing to go and see how they make everything, it’s all completely made in Scotland. I didn’t realize how much work goes into it,” said Gray. Victoria Stapleton, founder and creative director at Brora, noted that Gray’s aesthetic was a natural fit for Brora, as both designers share “this obsession with color.” The limited edition line retails from 80 pounds, or $127 for cashmere wrist-warmers through to 745 pounds, or $1,190, for a ribbed cashmere cardigan in color blocks of red, green, yellow and blue.
