MAC Cosmetics called on three makeup artists to help conceive a new collection.
Kabuki, James Kaliardos and Diane Kendal teamed up with the beauty brand to develop MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics, a 50-piece makeup line that bows Jan. 2, 2017. This is the first time the global beauty brand has collaborated with independent makeup artists to create a collection.
“Makeup professionals embody the spirit and heritage of the MAC culture,” said James Gager, creative director of MAC. “[The three] have been a part of the MAC family for many years, keying our shows at fashion weeks around the globe and working on our various visual campaigns.”
Individual color collections with products for eyes, lips and face reveal each artist’s “distinct makeup personality,” according to Gager.
For instance, Kendal’s vision is glamorous (but still wearable) and focuses on bronzed lids and cheeks with a bold lip, while Kaliardos sticks to a more neutral palette. Kabuki’s offerings are more dramatic and include a highly pigmented blue cream eye shadow, a poppy, red lip color and a bronzer and blush compact.
“[They] gave me complete freedom with this collection and turned my wish list into reality,” Kabuki said.
Kendal added: “We all have our own distinct styles which will compliment and showcase the collection to its fullest.”
