MANHATTAN MOVE: Sarah Rutson will join as vice president of global buying and be based at the retailer’s New York offices. Her appointment confirms a report in WWD on Sept. 5 that she was moving to New York to join the e-tailer.

Rutson, formerly fashion director at Lane Crawford in Hong Kong, will start on Jan. 12 and report to Alison Loehnis, president of Net-a-porter. “As we look to further penetrate our core markets and grow our global customer base, our buy will remain a key differentiator,” said Loehnis. “With her years of experience in the luxury fashion business in both Europe and Asia, Sarah is uniquely positioned to lead our global buying team. An area of focus will be on expanding the designers and brands we stock to offer our customer everything she could need.”
