THE GLASS MENAGERIE: In his new book, “Glamour Icons: Perfume Bottle Design,” packaging designer Marc Rosen looks back at the iconic fragrance flacons that have captured the imagination of consumers over the last century. “I wanted to remind people of the fantasy that was once so intrinsic to the industry and the products we created,” said the seven-time FiFi Award winner. “The book includes all the incredible launches and launch events we’ve now taken for granted.”

On Nov. 2, Rosen signed copies of his book at an event hosted by the Fragrance Foundation. Available at Barnes & Noble and for $85, the book covers 100 years of bottle design and highlights a host of vintage perfume bottles, including many of the author’s own designs. The book also contains Rosen’s personal photographs and accounts of working with the likes of Charles Revson, Karl Lagerfeld, the Fendi sisters and Princess Grace of Monaco. “Putting together the memories and talking about the design process was a great catharsis for me,” said Rosen. “But [the book] doesn’t dwell in the past. It is very much about the future.”
