PROFESSOR BOSELLI: Mario Boselli, president of Italy’s Camera della Moda, has racked up yet another title: guest professor at Tsinghua University’s Shenzen Gradute School, in the College of Continuing Education. The university’s president Li dang Qi, who is also the president of the China Fashion Association, conferred Boselli with an official certificate on Tuesday.
The recognition is part of a larger move to increase collaboration between the Italian and Chinese fashion industries. The Camera della Moda, Milan’s Polytechnic university and the China Fashion Association are currently working with Tsinghua University — which has branches in both Shenzen and Beijing — to develop a training course for Chinese entrepreneurs in the country’s fashion sector. As part of this initiative, several program participants flew to Milan for the city’s fashion week, and were able to meet representatives from major Italian fashion firms.
Boselli has received many awards over the course of his lengthy fashion career. He was appointed Cavaliere del Lavoro in 1990, Commandeur de l’Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur in France in 2002, and Cavaliere di Gran Croce Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana in 2007. In 2012 he was named “Asociado de Honor” (Honorary Associate) by Modesto Lomba, president of The Spanish Fashion Designers Council, and he also received a certificate of merit from the Lombardy region’s Military Command.
