Marks & Spencer has launched a Chinese version of its e-commerce Web site as well as a dedicated retail space on, China’s largest business-to-consumer shopping platform.

Both e-commerce platforms went live last month, according to a spokeswoman.

M&S entered the Chinese market in 2008 and now has 14 stores across the country. In the last two months, the retailer opened stores in Wenzhou, Jiangyin and Changzhou, the retailer said., which is operated by Chinese internet giant Alibaba, had sales of more than 200 billion yuan ($32.1 billion) in 2012, according to a spokeswoman. In the past six months, The North Face, GStar and Ralph Lauren Footwear have opened stores on the shopping platform.

M&S has also launched online shopping websites in France, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Austria and Belgium as part of a strategy outlined last May to have e-commerce business in 10 international markets in 2013.
