NANETTE TO BE FETED: Nanette Lepore will be honored at the 10th anniversary Martina Arroya Foundation Gala on Nov. 17. She will be accepting the honor alongside baritone Mark Rucker at the JW Marriott Essex House at 60 Central Park South in New York.
Founded by American soprano and 2013 Kennedy Center honoree, Martina Arroyo, the foundation’s mission is to prepare and counsel young singers in the interpretation of complete operatic roles for public performance.
“We are excited to honor a fashion designer who has such enthusiasm for her art and dedication to her trade. It’s the combination of talent and commitment that lead to success in all pursuits, and opera much like that of Ms. Lepore’s craft is a case in point,” said Arroyo.
The gala will celebrate the 10th anniversary since the inception of its training program Prelude to Performance, a tuition free six-week intensive that takes place at Hunter College in New York.
