ON THE ROAD: Mary Katrantzou is in Asia this week. On Thursday, the designer met with VIP customers at Joyce and hosted a dinner at NUR, a gastronomy restaurant in Hong Kong that was recently awarded one Michelin star.

Joyce commemorated the designer’s visit by dedicating a special Christmas window at its flagship Central store, highlighting some of Katrantzou’s pieces from the autumn-winter 2014 and latest spring-summer 2015 collections. Joyce also set up a pop-up space showcasing her collections at its Pacific Place store and Katranzou created a unique graphic for Joyce that is showcased at stores.

Between interviews and meetings, the designer managed to see some of Hong Kong’s sites.

 

“We did as much as we possibly could, adding that she got a tour of the historic Pedder building in Central, went to the China Club, China Tang, enjoyed the view from Upper House. She also went to the Pradasphere event on Wednesday night and took in Lorde’s performance.

 

“Everytime I come to Hong Kong now, I feel I know Hong Kong a little bit better. It takes a couple of visits to do that, I feel like next time we come here we can easily stay a week and we’d have so much to do,” she said.

While in Hong Kong, Katrantzou is celebrating the one-year anniversary of her brand’s website. The site’s e-shop, which currently ships only to Europe, U.S. Canada and Australia will soon start shipping to Hong Kong as well, she added. She said the site gives her a clear picture of customers who are buying online.

“I have a profile of everyone who has come to buy. It’s important to know,” she added.

After the Hong Kong event, Katrantzou headed to Beijing for a Net-a-Porter-sponsored cocktail party and collection presentation on Friday evening.
