A memorial service will be held Sunday for Margo Turnquest Lewis, event producer, cake designer and entrepreneur, at the Tishman Auditorium at the New School from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Lewis, a Brooklyn resident, died Sept. 21 of breast cancer at the age of 51.
For 19 years, Lewis was director of special events at the New School’s Parsons School of Design, where she managed the exhibition center when it was a central venue for fashion shows and sample shows. She later founded Cake Bliss, a couture cake business, Ms. Dahlia’s Café in Brooklyn, MTL Productions and 96 Magnolia, an event space and company. The café closed this month.
In 1994, Lewis produced a fashion show in the Côte D’Ivoire taking Tracy Reese, Byron Lars and other American designers to showcase their creations alongside designers from Africa.
