CONTEST WINNERS: On Thursday night, Milan hosted for the first time the final show of the Italian fashion contest Mittelmoda. Previously, the event was held in Gorizia, in northeast Italy.
The runway show unveiled the men’s and women’s wear collections created by 26 international designers, judged by Mittelmoda president Matteo Marzotto along with a selection of fashion experts.
Gianluca Viscomi and Alessandro Canti from Milan’s Afol Moda school were awarded the “Most creative collection prize” of 2,500 euros, or $3,337 at current exchange rate, while the “Most experimental collection prize” went to Antwerp Royal College of Fine Arts’ Virginia Burlina, who received 2,500 euros, or $3,337. All the winners also received a sophisticated Lectra clothing design software.
In addition, Virginia Parisi, a student at Rome’s Accademia di Costume e Moda, was awarded the Furla accessories special prize of 2,000 euros, or $2,670, and London College of Fashion’s Maddalena Mangialavori will have the opportunity to intern at Benetton.
