MILANInternational leather goods and accessories trade show Mipel will introduce a new format for the upcoming edition, running Feb. 14 to 17 at Fiera Milano: Rho.

With the Scenario project, Mipel aims to address new and emerging brands. It is a new exhibition inspired by the four elements — air, water, earth and fire — with a multisensory journey through holographic creations made by Archè-Touch the Future. The other new project, called The Glamorous, is seen as the fifth element. This will be an exhibition area and create a link between four buyers and four young designers, who will have the opportunity to display their collections both inside the exhibition and in the buyers’ stores.

This is the 109th edition of the show, which will cover 108,0000 square feet and present 300 brands from around the world. The next edition of Mipel is expected to draw 12,000 international buyers.

Riccardo Braccialini, president of AIMPES, Italy’s leather manufacturers’ association, stressed that “the leather goods industry remains one of the most vital sectors in the country.” Roberto Briccola, president of Mipel, said the exhibition “continues to be a window into the world.”
