Rosita and Angela Missoni have been on Fern Mallis’ 92Y Q&A wish list for a while, and now that pairing will become a reality on April 21. “The Missonis have been on my radar forever. They are really the reigning family of Italian fashion. Growing up in my fashion life, I loved and wore Missoni early on,” Mallis said.
The interviewer first made her appeal to the Missoni cofounder last year when Rosita Missoni was launching the label’s home collection at Bergdorf Goodman.”She has so much style and such class. I am just such a fan of the whole family,” Mallis said. “Years ago on a trip to Milan, I went to one of their fashion parties at their home. It was just so friendly, warm, unpretentious and normal.”
Now that the mother-daughter team’s travel schedule has aligned, they will take to the Upper East Side stage later this month. Hoping to round out the family night, Mallis is try to sway Margherita Missoni as well to have three generations describing their family and company history.
But before that happens, Mallis is heading for the Savannah College of Design’s to host a few talks there. First up will be a chat at the school’s Atlanta campus with Monse designers — and Oscar de la Renta alum — Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia on April 11. As part of the SCAD Style event, Public School’s founders and DKNY creative directors Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne will be questioned by Mallis later in the week. She will cap off her stay with yet another sit-down interview with Calvin Klein, a repeat performance after the two did the same act at the Mint Luxury Conference in Mumbai late last month.
