Margherita and Teresa Maccapani Missoni joined forces with Italian department store La Rinascente to launch a fashion capsule collection supporting Gold For Kids, a charity project established by Italian oncologist Umberto Veronesi’s namesake foundation to help children affected by cancer.
The Missoni sisters asked Italian illustrator Ivo Bisignano to create the colorful characters decorating the capsule’s pieces: Two T-shirts ($27), a sweatshirt ($38.50) and a shopping bag ($14) — which will be sold at La Rinascente’s 11 stores across Italy. All proceeds will benefit the Gold For Kids project. Margherita Maccapani Missoni, who is expecting her second child, described the characters as “simply adorable.”
The illustrations decorating the fashion items — available for children ages 4 to 12 — represent some of the human body’s elements, including the DNA, chromosomes and neurons. These also return as the characters of an illustrated book, called “Il Regno di Organia [The Kingdom of Organia],” which was written by Fondazione Umberto Veronesi’s scientific supervisor Chiara Segré to explain to children, through a tale, how the human body works.
