MONDADORI GROUP ACQUIRES LONDON-BOUTIQUES.COM: Mondadori Group is the latest publisher to get into the e-commerce game. The Italian publisher said Monday that it has acquired, an online fashion marketplace that carries pieces from independent London boutiques and labels, such as denim retailer Trilogy, handbag label Meli Melo and the independent chain Anna.

The publisher said the move is in order to develop the Grazia International Network, which represents the 23 global editions of Mondadori’s fashion and lifestyle magazine Grazia. The acquisition comes ahead of the launch of a Grazia e-commerce platform, called, which will debut later this year.

Ernesto Mauri, chief executive of the Mondadori Group, said Monday that the platform will be expanded to encompass boutiques in Italian and French cities, and eventually to other countries in which Grazia is published, which include Russia, China and the Middle East region. “This operation is part of a project for the launch of a global e-commerce platform for the Grazia brand, said Mauri. “Grazia is now taking a decisive step into digital.” The company said that will operate both as a standalone online retailer and as a platform for other online boutiques in Grazia’s network of countries. The publisher will present the concept at Grazia’s global conference in Dubai later this week.
