LUCKY NUMBER: Retailer Liliane Jossua threw a cocktail party at her Montaigne Market boutique in Paris on Tuesday night to fete its collaboration with Cartier on a limited edition handbag.
The retailer gave the Jeanne Toussaint model a rock ‘n’ roll spin by producing it in a combination of cracked leather, smooth leather and ponyskin, with a handle incorporating a silver chain.
“The fact that they contacted us for this collaboration is a great honor. I think it’s a lot of fun because people don’t necessarily expect us to team up with a traditional brand like that, and it’s a way of showing Cartier handbags in a different light,” said Jossua, wearing a short black and silver dress by Anthony Vaccarello.
The bag is available in a numbered edition of 13 — a reference to Cartier’s historic flagship at 13 Rue de la Paix — and costs 4,000 euros, or $5,060 at current exchange. Was Jossua worried about number 13 staying on the shelf? “Not at all — it’s already sold!” she exclaimed.
