The Moschino Barbie, which launched today, has sold out — and within an hour at that.
Jeremy Scott, creative director of Moschino, shared the news on his Instagram account, writing, “Moschino Barbie sold out in less than an hour! Wow! Barbie and I thank u for all the love!” He ended his caption with the hashtag #moschinobarbie, which had upwards of 30,000 posts at press time.
The doll, sold on Net-a-porter.com, retailed for $150, and was part of an eight-piece collection Scott designed for the iconic Mattel toy, which heavily inspired his spring collection. The Moschino Barbie line includes adult-size versions of Moschino Barbie’s look, as well as two Moschino Barbie T-shirts.
The Barbie came dressed in a slogan T-shirt, pencil skirt and a plethora of accessories.
“The thing I love most about Barbie is that she is the ultimate muse, she’s worn every style and design imaginable and at the same time she’s had every possible profession you can dream of,” Scott previously told WWD.
