MULTITASKING MAVEN: If Lily Aldridge can sneak away from her busy schedule shooting photos with Victoria’s Secret, she’ll trade slinking in skimpies for scouting trends at New York Fashion Week. A fan of Rag & Bone and Michael Kors, the model is prepping another collaboration with Velvet by Graham & Spencer to premiere next spring.

“It’s so exciting and inspiring to be in New York for fashion week,” she said. “Of course, I get so many ideas. I’m in SoHo right now. I see so many incredibly dressed people, whether it’s young kids or older women.”

The 18 pieces in the sophomore collection retailing from $50 to $200 reflect Aldridge’s California roots and New York career mixed with Nashville’s music scene, a glam-yet-down-to-earth lifestyle she personifies with her rocker husband, Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill. She designed a shrunken denim jacket in a worn-in blue, a black short romper and other comfortable, effortless pieces awash in coral, green and white. The sellout status of a military-inspired jacket from the spring 2013 collection spurred Aldridge to spruce up the style in a faded leopard print.

Based on the strong sales of Aldridge’s first design effort — her New York neighbor bought one of her jackets without realizing she created it — she contemplates staging her own fashion presentation in Los Angeles one day. “Velvet is a California-based company. I’m a California girl. That’s the vibe of the collection,” she said. “With the styling, it would fit L.A. so perfectly.”

Aldridge’s even dreaming up baby clothes inspired by her 1-year-old daughter, Dixie.

“We would love at some point to do baby clothes with Lily,” said Velvet codesigner Toni Spencer. Added codesigner Jenny Graham: “Dixie’s the perfect model.”
