BLAST FROM THE PAST: Nasty Gal tapped rocker Courtney Love for an upcoming collaboration.

The news was unveiled to followers of the Los Angeles-based retailer’s Instagram account, promising the exclusive collection’s launch as “coming soon.”

A spokesperson for the company could not be immediately reached for comment.

The collaboration would in some ways be fitting for Nasty Gal, which has established a look that sometimes borders on Nineties, grunge-era trends. The company, which began as an e-commerce shop and now has two brick-and-mortar stores as well, sells its own collection in addition to brands such as For Love & Lemons, Jeffrey Campbell, Line & Dot and OneTeaspoon.

Nasty Gal has remained relatively quiet on most other fronts related to the business since Sheree Waterson was tapped to be chief executive officer in January, succeeding founder Sophia Amoruso.

The company in February closed on a $16 million Series C round led by former Apple and J.C. Penney executive Ron Johnson, leading to chatter over what Johnson’s involvement could mean for the company.
