Net-a-porter will sponsor The Society of Memorial Sloan Kettering Winter Lunch at chef Daniel Boulud’s namesake restaurant on Feb. 2. Co-chairs Shoshanna Gruss, Meredith Melling, Claudia Overstrom and Virginia Wettlaufer Tomenson will welcome more than 160 guests to the lunch to benefit the center, which is the world’s oldest and largest private cancer center.
Net-a-porter, hosting for the first time, follows in the footsteps of last year’s host Roger Vivier and Chanel, who held hosting duties in 2014. Recent years’ guests have included Tory Burch, Anya Ziourova, Inès de la Fressange, Patricia Herrera Lansing, Veronica Swanson Beard and Jill Kargman.
“Memorial Sloan Kettering is at the forefront of cancer research here in New York, and the society’s efforts to raise both awareness and funds are critical to the continued growth and success of the organization.” Heather Kaminetsky, vice president of global marketing for Net-a-porter, said of the partnership.
In December, Natalie Massenet, founder and former executive chairman of the Net-a-porter Group, was named a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Since her departure from the company in September 2015, the Yoox Net-a-porter Group has seen a variety of changes in the past months, including the appointment of Alison Loehnis as president.
The lunch will be one of the first gatherings of 2016 for the charitable social set of New York. After this weekend’s visit from Jonas, let’s hope they’re dusting off their warmest furs.
