TOASTING CAROLINA: Carolina Herrera has dressed Allison Williams, Dita Von Tease and Minka Kelly for recent red-carpet turns, but she will be honored Thursday by the New York Women’s Foundation for helping all different walks of women. The designer will be feted at the Waldorf Astoria for her philanthropic efforts and entrepreneurial achievements in the fashion industry for more than three decades. Herrera has helped champion the EIF Women’s Cancer Research Fund, and she has served as an ambassador for the American Cancer Society as well as the Intergovernmental Institution in the fight against malnutrition.
Herrera will be honored with two other major names — Morgan Stanley and the Ford Foundation. Morgan Stanley’s Ruth Porat and the Ford Foundation’s Darren Walker will accept their respective awards.
With a board that includes Diana Taylor, Jean Shafiroff and Hyatt Bass, the NYWF has raised and invested $33 million for more than 280 women-led, nonprofits and improving the lives of 5.4 million women and girls in New York City in the past 26 years.
