IN THE LONG RUN: Nike made its presence known during fashion week in the French capital by hosting the 13th edition of its 10KM Paris Centre run on Sunday. Its route hugs the Seine River, giving participants views of landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and Grand Palais.

Among the 15,000 participants was model Izabel Goulart, perhaps best known for her appearances in Victoria’s Secret fashion shows. She completed the race in 50 minutes – a personal best.

“I see myself as an athlete and an advocate,” she said. “Training keeps me focused and has helped me overcome stress and fears to be successful in other aspects of my life.”

Goulart is also the face of Nike’s latest Beautiful x Powerful collection, which was presented at the sporting goods firm’s Paris showroom. It spans a range of premium sneakers that start hitting stores on Thursday.

One group of shoes was inspired by Joanie Benoit Samuelson, who won a gold medal in the women’s marathon at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles — the first year women competed in the sport.

Cortez and Presto models in a Flyknit jacquard bear a striped pattern that mimics the track-and-field markings at those games. Samuelson’s winning time — 2:24.52 — is also stamped onto the shoelace tips.

A digital campaign is to accompany the product drops, showing Goulart at those Los Angeles facilities, including its Coliseum. A short film is to run on Nike’s web site and social channels.

Spring deliveries include new versions of the VaporMax with transparent air-bubble soles, including the black slip-on version featured in the Comme des Garçons spring fashion show, a collaboration between Nike and the Japanese fashion house.
