WATER WORKS: Despite Jane Lauder’s lack of a personal social media presence, she posed for an Instagram photo with Emmy Rossum during the Origins It’s Smart to Do Good event on Monday evening. “We selfied,” laughed Rossum, who flew to New York for the day from Los Angeles, where she started filming the new season of “Shameless” on Tuesday. The event, held at the Jimmy rooftop at the James Hotel, kicked off a partnership between Origins and Charity Water to raise upwards of $60,000 over the next few months through a “One for One” matching program, which would provide more than 2,000 people in Ethiopia clean, safe drinking water for up to a decade. It also celebrated the launch of Origins’ CC Cream, Smarty Plants, and Rossum’s recent partnership with the beauty brand. “Since our tagline is beauty with brains, that’s how we ended up with Emmy,” said Lauder, in Derek Lam and Vera Wang, about the event’s host. “I was that dorky kid who was super into recycling and always had a recycling program at school and would reuse bottles and drink out of glass and brush my teeth in the shower,” said Rossum, in J. Mendel, adding that her beauty secrets include consuming little to no alcohol, not smoking and traveling with an eye mask during her many flightsbetween coasts. Despite her lifelong commitment to living green Rossum said she won’t surrender to the California composting craze. “I’m not doing that. That’s disgusting,” she said. “That’s where I draw the line.”
