MUSEUM MELANGE: With its new exhibition opening in May, the Palais Galliera, known as Paris’ fashion museum, is showing the depth of its archives and asking: “Who wears what?”

While recent retrospectives explored the influence of women in French, the new presentation curates a colorful selection of around 100 garments from the 18th century to the present day, identified with the people who wore them.

Previous owners range from celebrities to unknowns, with items including Marie-Antoinette’s corset; Napoleon’s waistcoat; a worker’s trousers; Gala Dalí’s shoe-hat; Elsa Schiaparelli’s overcoat; Audrey Hepburn’s dress; a blouse worn by an unnamed First World War nurse, and Tilda Swinton’s pajama suit.

“Anatomy of a Collection” is scheduled to run from May 16 to Jan. 8, 2017.
